For the first of our regularly irregular features of 2014, Ubereadoolische talks to the enthusiastic and talented, David Bowler, the man behind Systematik.

So what/who got you into house music?

I think the first time I ever got into House/Dance music was when watching Kevin & Perry Go Large for the first time. I would have only been about 11 or 12 years old then but was totally amazed by it all.

Since then i started collecting/listening to most of the Cream Classics / Godskitchen albums and fell in love with dance music.

The Essential Mixes on radio 1 were my first real introduction to house music though, by this time in 2006/2007 i had a basic understanding of dance music which involved me staying up late every week to check out those shows. Here's one of my favourites from 2007 - Nic Fanciulli b2b James Zabiela + Richie Hawtin

How long have you been DJing?

I've been playing for about 5/6 years now...

Systematik has made quite an impact on the scene in Reading, what was the reason you started it up?

I started Systematik mainly because I wanted to be able to book the acts I love and that are an inspiration to me. The other reason being that I wanted to try and build a stronger underground scene down here. In the last few years it's got a lot stronger and will hopefully continue to grow with the brand and help from other local nights.

What advice would you give to budding promoters out there?

Do it for the love and nothing else! There is no point in doing something you don't believe in, only book acts you want and not just what you think the punters want.

Do you have a favourite tune of 2014 so far?

One of my favourite tunes this year has to be Maceo Plex's Conjure Balearia, everything this guy comes out with is amazing!

Totally agree there! So if money was no issue, who would be your ultimate booking for Systematik?

Unfortunately I can't just choose one DJ, so here's my ultimate line up.... Marco Carola, Loco Dice, Maceo Plex, Dixon - That would be pretty fucking sweet!

How do you see the party developing over the coming years?

I hope to take the party to London one day and do regular events there. I doubt I will ever stop doing events in Reading though, it's where everything started for me and I'm determined to keep going and help the underground scene grow in my home town.

What else in Reading would you recommend to the readers of Ubereadoolische?

I would recommend these nights to anyone in Reading that has a love for House, Garage, Bass Music and everything in-between.
